Fairport Convention are one of the greatest live bands on today’s concert circuit. Their sell-out gigs attract critical acclaim and delight audiences.

This concert by the band’s acoustic line-up is their first visit to the Regis Centre and presents a more intimate, equally exciting, take on the legendary band’s music.

It promises to be a special occasion and will appeal to devoted fans and newcomers to the music alike.

The band’s repertoire mixes established favourites with brand new songs.

The concert will feature Simon Nicol on guitar and lead vocals, Dave Pegg on bass and backing vocals, Chris Leslie on fiddle, mandolin and lead vocals, Ric Sanders on violin and Gerry Conway on percussion.

Fairport  have won a coveted BBC Lifetime Achievement Award. It is among many awards the band’s members have won individually and collectively.

Another accolade was the acclaim by Radio 2 listeners in voting Fairport’s groundbreaking album Liege & Lief  'The Most Influential Folk Album of All Time'. It is credited with launching the English folk rock movement.

Fairport Convention were formed in 1967 and are widely regarded as the most important single group in the English folk movement.

Since 1979, they have hosted the Cropredy Festival, which is the largest such annual folk and rock music event in England.
